Segment sends your event data into Basedash Warehouse, where you can chart it, chat with it, and add it to dashboards like any other data source.
Only admins can add data sources. SaaS connectors are available on Basedash Cloud only, not on self-hosted deployments.

Connect Segment

Unlike most connectors, Segment isn’t set up inside Basedash. Instead, you add your Basedash Warehouse as a Postgres destination in Segment, and Segment writes events to it.
  1. In Basedash, go to the Data page and select Add data source.
  2. Search for Segment, open it, and select Connect.
  3. Select Show warehouse credentials. Basedash creates your warehouse if you don’t have one yet and shows its connection details.
  4. In Segment, add a Postgres destination and enter the warehouse credentials from Basedash.
Segment then loads events into your warehouse on its own schedule. After the first load, you can chart and chat with the Segment tables like any other warehouse data.

Manage the sync

Because Segment pushes data to your warehouse, sync settings like frequency and which events to send live in Segment, not Basedash. See Segment’s Postgres destination docs for details. To control who can see the Segment tables in Basedash, use data source access control.
