The Google Sheets connector syncs your Google Sheets data into Basedash Warehouse, where you can chart it, chat with it, and add it to dashboards like any other data source.
Only admins can add data sources. SaaS connectors run on Fivetran and are available on Basedash Cloud only, not on self-hosted deployments.

Choose a connector for your sheets

  • Several related sheets (recommended): use the Google Drive connector. It connects every sheet in a folder at once and treats the folder as one schema, with no named ranges or reformatting.
  • One sheet: use this connector. It connects a single Google Sheet, needs a named range for each table, and may need you to reformat the data. It works best for a standalone sheet that doesn’t belong to a larger schema.

When to use a single-sheet connection

  • Complex single-sheet analysis: a financial model with several tabs, a project timeline, or a sheet full of pivot tables. For example, a budget model with multiple scenarios.
  • Standalone reports: a monthly or quarterly report, or a self-contained dataset that doesn’t need to be combined with others.
  • Form responses: a Google Forms response sheet or survey results from a single form.
  • Quick analysis: a temporary or experimental dataset for ad hoc questions.

Connect Google Sheets

  1. Go to the Data page and select Add data source.
  2. Search for Google Sheets and open it.
  3. Select Connect.
  4. In the Fivetran setup form that opens, sign in to Google Sheets or enter the credentials it asks for, then finish the form. Fivetran asks for the sheet and the named range to sync.
  5. Basedash starts the first sync. When it finishes, the Google Sheets tables appear on the Data page.
The first sync backfills historical data, so it can take longer than later syncs. If you close the setup form before finishing, the connector shows Setup incomplete. Open it from the Data page and select Connect to finish.

Manage the sync

Open the connector from the Data page to see its status and synced tables. Admins can change these settings:
  • Enabled: turn off to pause all syncs, and turn back on to resume.
  • Sync frequency: how often Basedash checks Google Sheets for new data, from every 15 minutes to every 24 hours. New connectors sync every hour.
  • Sync now: starts a sync right away.
  • Synced tables: choose which schemas, tables, and columns sync, and use New data to decide what happens when Google Sheets adds new ones. Save your changes to apply them.
  • Access: choose who can see this connector’s tables. See data source access control.
  • Connection details: select Edit to reopen the Fivetran setup form and update credentials or configuration.
To stop syncing and remove the connector, select Delete connector.

  • Fivetran status: Generally available
  • Tables and sync behavior: the Fivetran Google Sheets documentation lists the tables this connector syncs, any setup needed on the Google Sheets side, and how it handles deleted records.

FAQ

Every hour by default. Admins can change Sync frequency to anything from every 15 minutes to every 24 hours, or select Sync now to sync right away.
Yes. Turn off Enabled in the connector’s settings, and turn it back on to resume. Syncing also pauses if your organization’s trial ends without a paid plan. Upgrade to resume it.
